Location: Keesler Air Force Base

Position: Physician - Flight Surgeon

Global Consulting International seeks candidates for a full time position providing Physician - Flight Surgeon services to the men and women of the United States Air Force and their families at Keesler AFB in Mississippi.

Hours of Operation. Duty hours will be 0600-1800 flexible schedule, Monday through Friday (every other Friday off). Work hours will be scheduled by the Flight Commander/Medical Director to correspond to the needs of the department, not to exceed 80 hours per two (2) week period.

Holidays. The Contractor shall not be required to provide services on the following Federal holidays (or the

actual day set aside for observation):
New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans’ Day, Thanksgiving Day, and/or Christmas Day.

Vacation/Absences.

Contractor personnel are authorized 160 hours of excused absence per year for vacation, sick leave, CME, and miscellaneous reasons. Absences are to be coordinated with, and at the discretion of, the Flight Commander/Medical Director. If routine services are disrupted for more than three (3) scheduled shifts due to unplanned absences, the Government reserves the right to procure such services from another source until the Contractor restores routine services. When the Government exercises its right to procure these services from another source, the Government will reduce the Contractor’s invoice by an equivalent amount to that incurred

On Call Duty. On call coverage will be provided by active duty medical providers. When required to ensure completion of services that extend beyond the normal close of business, Contractor personnel shall remain on duty in excess of the scheduled shift.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT. Contractor personnel shall read, understand, speak, and write English fluently.

APPEARANCE AND CONDUCT. Contractor personnel shall present a professional, conservative, and neat appearance. Contractor personnel shall report for duty in a professional manner, in appropriate attire befitting a health care setting, and having complied with socially acceptable standards of personal hygiene expected of health care workers.

While on duty, the Contractor personnel shall be neat and clean, free from visible dirt and stains, well groomed, and appropriately dressed. The Contractor personnel’s clothing shall fit correctly to provide a professional, modest appearance, in keeping with normally accepted community standards of dress for the work being performed.

Facial hair (including beards, mustaches, and sideburns) shall be controlled (restrained) or trimmed. It shall not interfere with safe work practices, look unkempt, or be unclean. Facial hair shall not interfere with the face seal if a tight-fitting respirator (e.g., N-95) is required to be worn for normal duties.

The Contractor personnel shall display legible MTF-provided identification media on his/her outer clothing.

Protective Clothing. When required and supplied by the Government, Contractor personnel shall wear special protective clothing and shoe covers. When duties will be performed in specified areas, a disposable protective hood shall be worn to ensure infection control standards are met. The Government will provide this hood. These items shall remain the property of the Government and shall not be removed from the MTF. After use, protective clothing shall be turned in or destroyed as directed by the Chief of Service.

FORMAL EDUCATION:
Physicians: The Contractor personnel must have a Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited college or university in the specialty area required.

Licensure/Registration. IAW paragraph 3.1, AFI 44-119, Medical Quality Operations, 16 Aug 11, military, civil service, and personal services contract personnel who require a license, certification, or registration to perform their duties must maintain a license or other authorizing document such as certification or registration from any U.S. jurisdiction.

Certification. The Contractor personnel must have national and/or state (required) approved and current board certification or board eligible certification in the specialty area in which he/she provides clinical services. The Contractor personnel must have a current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) certificate, if applicable.

EXPERIENCE.

Physician (in Student Health Clinic). Successful completion of a minimum of ten (10) years of active Flight Surgeon experience on U.S. military active duty, which must be within five (5) years of date of hire. Active duty Flight Surgeon experience must have included: executive medicine experience demonstrated by successful chairing of functional meetings, sufficient experience in Air Force medical standards to conduct special operational evaluations, including (but not limited to): PHA for flyers/special duty personnel, initial certification exams for flying/special duty applicants (including foreign military personnel attending US military training, initial health screening for foreign military personnel attending US military training), aeromedical disposition for flying/special operational duty, conduct adaptability rating assessment for military special duty applicants, apply AFI 48-123 and AFI 10-203 (including profiling and duty restrictions as Profile Officer), primary care for active duty personnel and their family members. Former Army and Navy Flight Surgeons with 10 years active duty Flight Surgeon experience must have attend the portion of the USAF Aerospace Medicine Primary (AMP) course required for active duty flight surgeons transferring to the USAF from the other Services before they will be granted Flight Medicine privileges.
