Chief Nursing Officer
Develops, administers, directs, and implements all nursing and related patient care activities, working in close collaboration with Entity Administration and the System Nursing team to meet and support diverse organizational business initiatives/strategies. Responsibilities include but are not limited to standardization of systems, identification of efficiencies, financial oversight for nursing programs/services, integration of performance improvement strategies, design of strategic nursing business initiatives, processes and communication plans whi! ch support nursing goal attainment while fostering patient, ph! ysician and employee satisfaction. Works collaboratively with all hospital departments to coordinate nursing integration, service line development, and standardized nursing practice.

Description of Medical Staff We have over 100 medical staff members who either admit or consult at the hospital. As stated above, all specialties are represented except those listed. The medical staff leadership is very active and addresses their own issues appropriately. They are very supportive of nursing and the clinical departments. Most all hospital departments or services have a medical director or lead physician who works with us on projects/initiatives etc.
Description of the Nursing Model Our patient floors are somewhat ! divided by disease category. For the most part all floors practice primary care nursing except we have a few LPNs scattered throughout the building where the team model is used with one RN and one LPN taking care of a group of patients. All units have a secretary and certified nursing assistants, not necessarily around the clock. All units have a director who directs multiple units then a manager. Units have head nurses or charge nurses whom are mostly out of staffing. The nurse to patient ratio varies based on the unit. The current departments that report to the CNO are: inpatient units (including critical care, med/surg, OB/peds/nursery, inpatient rehab), emergency department including hospital owned ambulance service, dialysis (contracted service), transfer center, cardiology (including cath lab and OP cardiology programs), perioperative services (including anesthesia, ACC, surgery, PACU, Ambulatory care center and preadmission testing), education.
Medical Community ! - Most all specialties represented including open heart and neurosurger! y. We do not have infectious disease, full-time neurology or transplant services.
Desired Skills & Experience
Previouse CNO experience in an Acute Care Hospital is strongly preferred
Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Nursing or related field preferred. 5 years progressive, outcome oriented executive experience in a multi-hospital system. Knowledge of health care issues, trends, legal compliance and managed care with emphasis in all components and nursing operations. Ability to foster collaborative partnerships in the development, implementation and administration of service and program delivery. Company Description
This hospital is located in a rural Mississippi town that is 70 miles from Memphis and 40 miles from Tupelo. The town offers culture, literature, arts and sports. We are the setting for a major state university that is full of life. For a town our size, we have an exceptio! nal variety of medical staff who offers a wide range of treatment options. They are exceptional. The nursing staff is eager to learn and work well together. Our facility is a training site for BLS, ACLS and PALs. We are a level III trauma center. We are also a Bariatric Center of Excellence.
New Hospital This is a very exciting time as we are about to embark in a once in a lifetime adventure. We are building a new hospital just west of the current hospital. The hospital will be more than 600,000 square feet with all the updated amenities. We will open 217 beds with the ability to grow should the need arise. We should move into the new building in 2017. We are about to enter the exciting phase of planning for the actual building.
