The Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi is recruiting for a board certified / board eligible Plastic Surgeon. This may be a full-time or part-time position. The VAMC, Jackson is the primary educational affiliate of the University of Mississippi Medical Center and, as such, the successful candidate for this position must have the necessarily qualifications to teach and supervise surgical residents. The position requires the Plastic Surgeon to see patients in the clinic and perform surgery. Additionally, the Plastic Surgeon will be required to provide on call services, as well as to provide consultation on the wards and in the Emergency Department. Additional training and experience in Hand S! urgery is preferred. The successful candidate must be computer! literate and be able to learn to utilize the computerized patient record system.

Our VA is a 163-bed acute medical center with a 120-bed Community Living Center, outpatient clinics, and a research and education facility. VA Healthcare providers are entitled to immunity from medical malpractice claims as provided by the Federal Tort Claims Act. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education : Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.

Licensure and Registration : Must have current, full and unrestricted licesne to practice medicine in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United Sates, or in the District of Columbia.

English Language Proficiency : Physician appointed to d! irect patient- care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English required by 38 U.S.C. 7402 (d) and 7405(f).

Drug Testing and Physical : All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. A pre-employment physical examination shall be made to determine the physical and mental fitneess of candidates for appointment in the VA. Physical examinations must be satisfactorily completed.

FOREIGN EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, you must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specialized in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs.
