This position is PRN
Basic Purpose: To provide assistance to the surg! eons during surgical cases. Assists the surgeon in the sterile field by providing appropriate and adequate sterile insturments and other supplies during the operative procedures. Maintains the surgical field through sterile practices. Works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse as a member of the perioperative team. Assists in the care and preparation of the surgical patient for surgery. Responsible for the assembly of the case and it's components. Works cooperatively with ancillary departments and other team members.
Qualifications
Education: High School Dipoma or GED
Licensure: None Required, ORT Certification preferred
Experience: Orthopedic surgery preferred; previous on the job training in surgical technology or degree/certificate from an accredited surgical technology program desirable but not required
Special Skills: Basic computer knowledge
Language/ Communication/ Organizat! ional Skills: Must be able to communicate with various per! sonalities; must be personable and able to provide compassion and caring. Must possess organizational skills adaptable to daily scheduling.
Mathematical Skills: Basic mathematical skills
Reasoning Ability: Must have the ability to apply non-judgmental reasoning capabilities whenever necessary when dealing with patients, staff, visitors, and other employees
