Assures that quality control is maintained in the areas of responsibility. Reports to Director of Surgery.Baccalaureate degree in a business related field or sufficient previous related hospital experience and knowledge of sterile procedures.
Ability to manage personnel, follow operations and budgets; ability to use independent judgment. Customer relations skills, diplomacy, initiative, ingenuity, memory for details, organizational skills, management and mathematical computational skills, technical skills to operate equipment.Essential Functions: Selects, trains, orients, and assigns department staff (either directly or through subordinate supervisor). Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.Assists in developing department goals and objectives, and established and implements policies and procedures for department op! eration.Assists in developing and recommends department operat! ing budget, ensures that department operates within budget, and that budgetary man hours are commensurate with the workload.Manages, prepares, maintains and/or completes various department reports including the annual report as well as periodic reports for management, as required. Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department.Established and oversees methods for preparing, handling and storing sterile equipment and materials.Follows policies and procedures for inventory control and issuance of supplies and equipment.Enhances and maintains professional growth and development through seminars, current literature, workshops, inservice meetings and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest occupational trends.Participates in hospital/medical staff committee meetings as required.Establishes and maintains satisfactory customer and public relations, through direct or delegated contacts with representative individuals or groups.Ensures eq! uipment is functioning properly and removes defective equipment from operation; replaces or requisitions maintenance/repair.
