VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System (VAGCVHCS), is a multi-divisional health care system spanning 300 miles along the United States Gulf Coast, is actively seeking applicants for the Deputy Chief of Staff. Background and/or Security Investigation required. DUTIES:
The Deputy Chief of Staff will report directly to the Chief of Staff, but position can be physically located at one of the campuses within the VA Gulf Coast Health Care System which includes Biloxi, MS; Mobile, AL; Pensacola, FL; Panama City, FL and Eglin, FL. Duties include but not limited to:
Position is primarily administrative; however, occasionally a portion of time may be dedicated to direct patient care.
Serves as a principal assistant to the Chief of Staff in all clinical, administrative, and performance matters.
Develop and promote the professional development of the health care professionals in relevant activities.
Oversee, develop and manage specialty programs such as Women's Health Program, Operation Enduring/Iraqi Freedom, New Dawn and other programs.
Develops and monitors quality improvement measures for process improvement for the medical ce! nter to be in compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory req! uirements and standards.
Develop short and long-ranges goals and objectives that meet the mission of Veterans Health Administration and the needs of the Veterans served.
Participate in Academic Affiliation activities.
Participate in or Chair compensation panels and/or Professional Stands Board.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a full range of physical activity, including lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching above the shoulder, use of fingers and both hands, walking, standing, repeated bending, ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, emotional/mental stability. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

In order to qualify for this position you must meet the following:

Basic Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.)

Must be proficient in written and spoken Englis! h. (Physicians appointed to direct patient care position must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C 7402(d) and 7407(d)).

Must possess a current, full, active and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the state of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure.

Must possess a Degree of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine? The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: 1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted. 2) Sc! hools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Asso! ciation for the year in which the degree was granted. 3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or District of Columbia as qualifying for the full or unrestricted licensure.
